THE FALL TOURNAMENT IS SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 17!
WELCOME TO RTP BEACH VOLLEYBALL at THE HOUSE
There have been some questions on the legal first ball contact.
- 1. Soft dink (open
hand, finger tip) or redirection (throw) is not allowed. The ball must be cleanly hit or "pop" off the hand.
- 2. When digging a
hard-driven spike, the ball can be double-hit and/or momentarily lifted. Open hand digs are okay in this instance as well.
- 3. With the
exception of the hard-driven spike or block, you can never double-hit the first contact. If you receive the serve open-handed, expect it to be called illegal,
as the serve is never considered a
hard-driven, regardless of its velocity or trajectory. The tradition of the beach game does not allow the double hit on the first contact as the indoor game does.
- 4. On
serve-receive, the hands must be together and contact both simultaneously. The ball should not hit the palms, only the heels, knuckles, or sides of the hand.
We have team spots open in our recreational league on Friday Nights for the fall session
